Job - Purpose

Purpose

Responsible for the technical management of a portfolio of renewable energy assets, including wind farms, solar farms, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), in accordance with applicable Asset Management Agreements (AMA).

Organisational Context

The Technical Asset Manager (TAM) is responsible for the technical management of assigned assets and collaborates, as needed, with other parts of the RES UK&I AM team and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective management. Key partners include:

  • RES Senior Asset Manager – The TAM reports to a Senior Asset Manager (SAM) who may have overall responsibility for a larger asset portfolio. The TAM should work independently to the extent possible, escalating issues as needed.
  • RES Site Management Team – The TAM should collaborate with the RES Site Management Team as needed to fulfill defined tasks (e.g., site inspections, supervision, contractor compliance audits, etc.).
  • RES Commercial AM Team – The TAM should collaborate with RES Contract Managers as needed to help meet all commercial obligations (e.g., contractor procurement and dispute resolution).
  • RES Financial AM Team – The TAM should collaborate with the RES Financial Management (FM) team as needed to help meet contractual obligations (e.g., budgeting, invoice control, etc.).
  • O&M (Operations & Maintenance Contractors) – The TAM should work closely with various maintenance contractors across the site.
  • External Stakeholders – The TAM should act as the primary point of contact for key external stakeholders (e.g., landowners, the public, etc.).

The TAM should have a highly visible role within RES and in society at large to ensure compliance and promote optimal performance on designated assets.

Key Responsibilities

The TAM is responsible for the following:

  • Technical Asset Management – The TAM is responsible for ensuring all technical Asset Management obligations under the RES AMA are fulfilled on time and efficiently.
  • Compliance Management – The TAM must ensure that all operating facilities meet statutory health, safety, and environmental requirements and are operated in accordance with current agreements (e.g., lease agreements, planning permissions, grid connection agreements, etc.).
  • Subcontractor Management – The TAM is responsible for managing various service providers (e.g., operations and maintenance contractors) at the renewable energy site. The TAM must ensure close collaboration with these service providers to guarantee they perform their contractual duties safely and efficiently.
  • Performance Management – The TAM oversees the technical performance of the facility. The TAM is responsible for reviewing operations and maintenance contractor reports and verifying contractual key performance indicators (KPIs) (e.g., site production availability, performance ratio, etc.). The TAM should identify and implement opportunities to optimize the technical performance of the facility where possible.
  • Reporting – The TAM is responsible for producing reports on facility performance in accordance with the AM agreement.
  • Stakeholder Management – The TAM acts as the primary point of contact for the landowner and other external stakeholders (e.g., local authorities, the public) and manages these important relationships.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of the technical operation of renewable energy facilities.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
  • Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Supervision procedures, all within the framework of operating renewable energy production facilities.

Experience

  • Experience leading external contractors (required).
  • Operational experience with renewable energy facilities (advantageous).
  • Reviewing and producing technical performance reports (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with computerized SCADA systems and maintenance management systems (advantageous).

Qualifications

Degree in Engineering/Science or equivalent experience.
